Water lines bring water into your home through a single line called the main water line that’s connected to a municipal water source or well and run underground. Issues may occur with your water lines for several reasons:
- Age of the pipe
- Type of pipe used
- Foundation settling
- Tree roots
Repairing water pipes and main water line repair are among the most important services we provide. We also install new water lines when existing ones are no longer repairable.
Signs of Main Water Line Failure
Most residential water lines will need to be repaired or replaced at some point. Below are signs that you may need a water line repair or replacement:
- Discolored water, particularly reddish-brown water
- Unexplained wet spots around the exterior of your home
- Unexpectedly high water bills
- Loss of water pressure and/or volume
Repairing vs. Replacing an Underground Water Line
An underground leak on the main water line can occur at any time, and it can go undetected for months. Replacing underground water lines makes sense when these conditions are present:
- Water lines are 50 years or older
- Multiple repairs have been made
- Visual signs of decay
